The AI-Powered Platform for Finance, Sustainability, & Risk
At Workiva, I work as a Senior UX Designer on the Frameworks team, leading design for key platform systems that impact usability at scale. I’ve driven the UX strategy for an AI-powered intelligent search experience, collaborating with Product and UX Research to deliver a context-aware, machine learning–based tool that surfaces relevant content across the platform. I also led the complete redesign of Workiva’s global navigation, creating a scalable, intuitive structure based on user behavior and research insights. Currently, I’m working with the Admin team to design secure, user-friendly authentication workflows, including support for Passkeys and Single Sign-On.
Intelligent Search
As a Senior UX Designer, I led the end-to-end design of the first version of Intelligent Search, a brand-new feature created from the ground up to improve how users find and interact with content across the Workiva platform. From initial concept to final launch, I worked closely with a dedicated UX researcher to define the vision, uncover user needs, and validate solutions. I also worked closely with engineering and Product Managers on the development and business impacts required for the design process.
The goal was to create a seamless, integrated search experience that fit naturally into a variety of user workflows. I designed the interface to be easily accessible from anywhere in the platform and focused on delivering clear, actionable results. It was imperative to users they knew what content they were looking at in search results, to quickly and easily find what they needed to continue their work fast. One of the most impactful elements of this work was integrating Workiva AI directly into the search experience. This allowed users to go beyond traditional search and work more directly with their content.
Throughout the project, I collaborated closely with a UX researcher to gather user input around their search needs, test early concepts, and continuously gather feedback through usability studies. That close research/design loop ensured that every interaction was grounded in real user behavior. The result was a modern, intelligent search experience that not only met core user needs but expanded what users could accomplish.
Navigation Modernization
Users consistently shared feedback that the previous navigation was bulky, inefficient, and limited their workspace. Partnering with a Product Manager and UX Researcher, we conducted user interviews to identify key pain points and usability issues, then presented our findings to leadership to gain alignment.
Using both business input and direct user feedback, I redesigned the navigation to be cleaner, more scalable, and content-focused. We introduced a collapsible left-side nav to maximize screen real estate and relocated secondary utilities to the top-right for more intuitive, standardized access. Through multiple iterations and rounds of testing, we delivered a modern navigation system that better supported user workflows and improved overall usability across the platform.
Authentication and Authorization
Part of my work at Workiva is working as a Senior UX Designer on the Admin Pillar. I work with a cross-functional team of Product Managers, Developers and UX Research. For my part, I focus on designing platform-wide systems and features that support and integrate with all application solutions across the ecosystem. My work primarily centers around complex authentication and authorization experiences, including Single Sign-On, passkey support, and Step-Up Authentication flows. I also design tools like Permissions Reports that help admins manage access with clarity and control. This role requires balancing security, usability, and scalability—ensuring that critical access and identity workflows are both intuitive for users and aligned with enterprise requirements.
